Recreating the basic elements of the story ‘House of the Sleeping Beauties’ by Yasunari Kawabata in a French chateau, Rauzier uses it to express his preoccupation with reflections and levels of perception, and with the photographer’s perennial ‘separateness’.
Whilst the viewer may marvel at the lavish compositions and the quite extraordinary detail in Les Belles Endormies, Rauzier always retains a perfect sense of the beauty of the whole.
